Fish net

                     -Dwarakaithalaivan

Human chain extends along the road
In a demonstration.
It is a different kind of string
With fingers as links.

If a chain is made
With out a metallic link
Why can’t a fish net be made
Without neylon twine.

One fish bites the tail of another fish
That fish holds the tail of third one and so on.
Similarly thousands of fishes
Knit one big ‘fish net’
To move inside a human body as soul.

Gills of all the fishes
Move simultaneously –
A great synchronisation and symbol of liveliness.

Waves of life rise
With expectations and reality
As images on them.
Fish net spreads over them
To catch a thing or two.
Fishes drink some water
And the net comes out as an empty one.
Now the net is ready for the next catch.

brooding thorns in the sea of thoughts
May injure the fishes.
Some fishes will fall off due to age.
But the net never stops swaying.

Fishes of desire would jump in the air
And join the net again.
Every fish is trying to swallow the images in water
And bite the tail of other fish more strongly.
The whole net of human soul will tremble in pain.

It’s the time to end every thing.
Fishes will detach themselves
And move in all directions.

There is a rain of meteors.
Fishes are busy catching the tiny stars.
The moment at which they enter
The wide open mouth of fishes
There will be no tiny stars or fishes...

Reader's view

This is an intense,multi-layered poem that uses the metaphor of the fish and fishnet to deliver philosophical, social and political messages. Thanks for sharing this amazingly well- written poem, Dwarakaithalaivan Avl.
